Wine and Fine Dining - April 18, 2015
This gala event is a night to remember! Guests will enjoy Gordon Weldon's Grand Oyster Bar, champagne and butlered hors d'oeuvres while mingling with Soltane student and residents. Extensive live and silent auction lots are on display for guests to browse before the seated dinner and gourmet four-course meal get underway. Excitement builds as the auctioneer takes the podium and details the many fine live auction lots. You'll try to outdo your neighbor to win outstanding wine packages, luxury trips, and more!
Meet Our Featured Guests in 2015
Our Honorary Chair, David Jeffrey, left a financial career in New York to pursue a long-held dream of establishing a great vineyard in California.
After building an educational and practical background in wine production, David and his wife Marla founded Calluna Vineyards on an 80-acre parcel in the Chalk Hill appellation of Sonoma County, which they began planting to Bordeaux varieties. Just a few years later, their 2010 Calluna Vineyards Proprietary Red scored 91 with Robert Parker. David lives on the vineyard with his family, manages the vineyard and does essentially all the wine-making.
Ursula Hermacinski (right) is one of the most respected wine auctioneers in the country. She helped establish the prestigious Zachys-Christie's New York wine auction, currently presides over the Napa Valley Wine Auction, and regularly takes the podium at high-profile benefit auctions. Ursula is Senior Advisor and Principal Auctioneer for Wally's Wine Auctions.
Charles and Barbara Orlando of the Yellow Springs Inn will bring their culinary talents to us once again as our Guest Chefs. The Yellow Springs Inn strives to create a memorable experience which is designed to surpass expectations, with a menu that features humanely-raised meats, wild game, seafood, and locally-sourced produce and cheese.
This gala fundraising event helps us provide extraordinary opportunities for young adults and adults with special needs! Our innovative residential, educational and vocational programs and supports help people with special needs explore their talents and grow their capacities so they can take their place in the world as valued contributors.
